BLF Councillor Candidate for Ward 6, Joburg, shot by police

Black First Land First (BLF) is appalled by the shooting of Comrade Sibonelo Zuma, the councillor candidate for Ward 6, Orange Farm, City of Joburg.

Comrade Zuma is receiving emergency medical attention after being shot 4 times by Sergeant Mofokeng of the Orange Farm Police Station.

This shooting is part of the ongoing political persecution of Comrade Zuma. Comrade Zuma was previously arrested and denied bail on the eve of the 2019 national elections and released after 2 years, only to be arrested again on bogus charges to prevent him from contesting as a candidate for the Local Government Elections.

We call on the police to stop the persecution of Comrade Zuma now! We shall ensure that the perpetrator is charged and brought to book.

BLF sends warmest wishes for a speedy recovery to Comrade Zuma.

BLF condemns UDM’s empty accusations against its members

Black First Land First (BLF) notes that its members in Orange Farm extension 10 (Tjovitjo) are now facing triumphed up criminal accusations by the United Democratic Movement (UDM). We are not surprised. We condemn these accusations.

It is instructive that Cde Sibonelo Zomakahle Zuma, who is the BLF leader of Tjovitjo, is contesting the LGE 2021 as a candidate for the organisation and is therefore an obvious target in these circumstances.

These accusations are part of the same white monopoly capital (WMC) agenda already expressed by Ramaphosa’s ANC, DA, and Rupert’s EFF who want to remove our people from Tjovitjo, and destroy their leader, Cde Zuma, to prevent BLF’s victory for the area in the elections (this time the LGE 2021).

Our members are not guilty of the accusations against them. We know this from the existing evidence. In fact a charge of intimidation and pointing of a firearm has been laid by Cde Zuma against UDM members at the Orange Farm Police Station under case number 236/9/2021.

We condemn any suggestion that BLF members have contravened the Electoral Act and/or the Electoral Code of Conduct.

We know that the consolidated effect of the accusations is to ultimately proscribe the existence of the BLF which is established constitutionally.
