On 5 January 2016 BLF lodged a complaint relating to Penny Sparrow’s racist utterances with the Human Rights Commission. Subsequently, on 6 January 2016, BLF also preferred a charge of racism against Sparrow in the Equality Court of South Africa. The court case number is EC01/2016 and it is reportedly the first case in the Cape Town Equality Court for 2016. Sparrow has until 29th January 2016 to respond to BLF’s claims of racism against her. The relief sought in both these forums includes the criminalization of racism with the provision that “blacks can’t be racist” as well as the return of the land to the black majority without any compensation to the colonial thieves!
BLF will provide periodic reports to the public on this matter.
