According to the it’s founding documents the EFF is supposedly a Marxist-Leninist, Fanonian movement whose basic programme “is the complete overthrow of the neo-liberal anti-black state as well as the bourgeoisie and all other exploiting classes; the establishment of the dictatorship of the people in place of the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie and the triumph of socialism over capitalism.”
Neither Marx, Lenin nor Fanon denounces revolutionary violence as a means of resolving the land and all the other questions of the revolution. Furthermore each of this triad regarded exproriation of land without payment to the oppressors as central to the revolutionary project. The EFF has abandoned the land struggle and to this end has gone as far as recently denouncing the revolutionary violence associated with the resolution of the land question in Zimbabwe.
In the chapter “Concerning Violence” in the seminal book “Wretched of the Earth” Fanon correctly conceptualizes colonialism as a project, which is by itself the manifestation of violence. It is this violence that has shaped the very social constitution of the colonial subject. Everything – land, resources, life have been stolen from the colonial subject via a state of violence informed by an anti black racist capitalist framework. Fanon is clear! The only way out for the colonial subject is revolutionary violence. Fanon also cautions that unless the violence of and by the people is checked, it will turn internally within the colonized manifesting as tribalism, internecine conflict, women abuse via domestic violence etcetera. The internalization of violence by blacks is at the core of the neo-colonial dehumanization project which is intended to produce compradorial elements out of genuine revolutionary projects so as to channel people’s power into neo liberal settlement. We see this manifestation in the operations of Malema as he currently courts white monopoly capital internationally and denounces revolutionary violence as the means of decolonizing the land. This is not new with the EFF. Its endeavors to further enslave blacks in service of white supremacy continues.
The EFF has long sold out. We remember how in Paarl ealier this year, Malema engaged the leaders of the white agricultural sector in the Western Cape at a dinner hosted by their forum “Gesprek” and sold out the interests of blacks. At this event, as he is currently doing in the white world, Malema reassured whites that their interests in land are secured and intact and in this way allayed their fears on the issue of “expropriation of land without compensation”.
Speaking in Oxford University recently, Malema said “The Freedom Charter is the bible of the South African revolution. Any deviation from that is a sellout position.” Malema openly rejects the revolutionary process of land reclamation in Zimbabwe but celebrates the ANC Freedom Charter. A celebration of the Freedom Charter as “bible” of the revolution is a rejection of the teachings of Robert Sobukwe and Steve Biko – revolutionaries the EFF claims only when it is convenient.
We urge all the Pan Afrikanists and Black Consciousness adherents to leave Julius Malema’s sell out project, the EFF, and join the genuine revolutionary project of the BLF where you really belong.
Pan Afrikanists and Black Consciousness adherents must join BLF as it constructs a new future for the black masses. A future the likes of Malema and his ‘yes’ men and women are unable to imagine owing to their lack of investment in the very principles they mouth with reckless abandon.
We are the ones we have been waiting for.
