Black First Land First (BLF) condemns the death threats to and attempted bribery of student leaders Ignatius Mokhatle and Rodney Motlogeloa of the University of North West- Potchefstroom campus. The two leaders have been approached with an offer of thousands of rands to step aside from the revolutionary duty of leading the REFORM PUK movement. The leaders were told by unknown people that if they don’t accept the bribe and distance themselves from the students’ struggle they will be killed. Those who made the offer and threats seem to have a detailed knowledge of the living arrangements of the two students.
BLF calls on the university to do all that may be necessary to protect the two student leaders. BLF furthermore, calls on the police to act swiftly in apprehending the criminals who made the threats and attempted to bribe the student leaders. BLF stands 100% behind both Mokhatle and Motlogeloa. These leaders shall not be bribed nor intimidated. The struggle for decolonisation and free education is paramount.
